FIRST DECISION
After the conversation with DS Ornsby you inform him you will review the information he has given you and return his call with your decision about the way forward in the next few hours.

You now have to decide which of the following courses of action to take:
  • To call in the full team immediately

Your full team consists of two Detective Inspectors (DI), four Detective Sergeants (DS) and twenty Detective Constables (DC). One of the Sergeants and two of the Detective Constables are already on duty as part of the HAT. You have three DC's on annual leave and one of the DI's starts a leadership course on Monday which could be cancelled but they have been waiting to attend for over 12 months. One DC is currently abesent due to sickness.

  • To have the full team attend the office at 0800 hours ready to be briefed

The on duty DS or the DI's could be contacted to ensure that the full team is made aware of the need for everyone to attend the office at 0800 hours.

  • To immediately attend the scene yourself and take charge of the enquiry

One of the DI's has been informed they will be the Investigating Officer (IO) for the next murder investigation and they could attend the scene with you to take control.

  • To send a Detective Inspector to take charge of the scene and enquiry

One of the DI's, not the one who is going on a course, has been informed they will be the Investigating Officer (IO) for the next murder enquiry. They could be awoken and informed to attend the scene immediately.
